MOTION NO. 17

MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner

"In the light of traffic chaos in the Clondalkin electoral area on several occasions recently this committee calls on the relevant bodies to draw up a plan for managing critical incidents on the M50 motorway that will not see the whole county gridlocked for hours."

REPORT:

Globalvia Sacyr Jons (GSJ) were awarded a Motorway Maintenance and Renewal Contract by TII in 2013 initially until 2018.This contract includes for dealing with incidents on the M50, N4 and N7. GSJ were obliged to consult with all stakeholders in relation to this. SDCC has met with GSJ in relation to diversion routes. Proposals are currently being finalised and will be submitted by GSJ to TII before Christmas. An update can be provided when the proposals are finalised.

SDCC will, in conjunction with all stakeholders, endeavour to minimise traffic disruption throughout the county as a result of incidents on the M50, N4 and N7.
