MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor M. Devine
That this Committee asks the Chief Executive to outline what action can be taken to ensure recyclable refuse is property disposed of. Many green bins, particularly in the Springfield area but also many other areas within the County are not being left out for collection.
REPLY
Recyclable refuse, referred to as Dry Recyclable Waste (Wash and Squash) should be stored and presented for collection by an authorised waste operator, in the Green Bin. Products for presentation in the green bin include plastic containers / bottles, paper, newspapers, magazines, tetra packs, aluminum cans etc.
Organic waste should be stored and presented for collection by an authorised waste operator, in the Brown Bin. Products for presentation in the brown bin include food, kitchen paper towels, light garden waste (plants, flowers, hedge clippings, grass, leaves)
All other waste is to be placed in BLACK bin.
Householders have obligations under the South Dublin County Council Household Waste Bye-Laws 2012 to ensure that they are disposing of their waste in an authorised manner and householders who are holders of household waste may be requested to furnish in writing details of their chosen form of household waste removal, and to submit dockets/receipts for this disposal.
This council has in the past request such details from householders, and if it is perceived that there are problems with particular areas we would welcome such detail.
