QUESTION NO 16.
QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
"To ask the Chief Executive to please inform this Committee what Insurance cover exists, if any, to cover the cost of emergency accommodation or alternative housing for Council tenants who may have to leave their homes due to fire damage or serious water damage through flooding?"
REPLY:
The Council's housing stock is insured with Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurances Ltd.
The insurance policy, in the event of fire or flood damage, covers " buildings, including Landlord's fixtures and fittings therein and thereon".
There is no cover for the cost of emergency accommodation or alternative housing for tenants in the event of damage by fire or flooding to their homes.
