MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor D. O'Brien

"That this Committee agrees that the council should engage in a consultation process with resident’s community groups and sporting organisations with a view to developing a community facility on the site known as Fassinidges in Palmerstown."

REPORT: 

At a meeting of the Council on 23rd October 2014, the members agreed that the subject site known as Fassinidges in Palmerstown be brought to the market with a brief for a development similar to the Valhalla project in Clondalkin village. A relevant brief with a requirement that the site be developed as supervised sheltered accommodation was subsequently prepared and the site advertised for sale in the public press on 29/5/15.

The single bid received was duly examined in consultation with the Council Valuer. The Valuer did not recommend disposal in accordance with the bid received.

It is proposed to prepare a further report on site development options on Council owned lands in the New Year. Proposed alternative options for development of this site in accordance with the sentiments of the members can be considered at that meeting of the Organisation, Procedure & Finanace Committee in the early part of 2016. It should be noted that the site carries a substantial acquisition and clearance cost.
