COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
"To ask the Chief Executive to confirm his plans to appoint new School Wardens in the Tallaght area and will he also outline his proposals to deal with a situation which sometimes arises when a School Warden is unable to attend for work and requires a colleague to be moved from another location to the upset of those using that location?"
REPLY:
Provision has been made in the budget for an additional 5 No. School Wardens in 2016. This increase in numbers makes it possible to examine assignment of wardens to new locations across the county. All new requests will be examined in conjunction with an overall review of School Warden assignments.
School Warden crossings across the county are prioritised by the Council for the purposes of providing cover for leave/sick leave. Unfortunately when relief cover is not available, as happens from time to time, it becomes necessary to temporarily relocate existing School Wardens to cover at higher priority crossings. We continue to monitor the situation closely and immediately relief cover becomes available, normal service resumes.
It is proposed to commence the recruitment of further relief school wardens in the near future.
