MOTION NO. 9

MOTION: Councillor A-M. Dermody

"That a plan be presented to this Committee showing how the area of land on Whitchurch Road and next to St. Gatiens Court can be improved and tidied up.  There is written confirmation from the Council  two years ago that this area would be made better but there was no follow through from the Council.  This area is close to the entrance to St. Enda's Park and with the increased visitor numbers to the area next year it is important that the area be improved and its potential realised.  It is not enough to simply remove the weeds and cut back the grass can the area be planted which in turn would reduced the likelihood of fly tipping at this location."

REPORT:

The area in question on Whitechurch Road next to St Gatiens Court will be cleaned up and cut as a first step, and then added to the regular litter picking and grass cutting schedule.  A specific budget has now been provided for tree planting in the 2016 year, the area in question will be considered for inclusion in that tree planting programme for the coming year.  It is expected that the proposed tree planting programme will be presented to the elected members early in 2016.
