MOTION: Councillor P. Foley

"That the Chief Executive report on what planning constraints are in place for the erection of temporary structures regarding unnecessary light / noise pollution?

The lighting at the two temporary schools on Carrigwood green is, in my opinion, inappropriately bright and I have received a number of complaints that it causes disturbance to local residents."

REPORT:

The council have been in contact with the school to advise that the current lighting levels are excessive and causing light pollution and disturbance to local residents. The school have advised that they are currently reviewing their lighting design and will be making amendments to the current lighting profile so that the lights are only in operation when the school is in use. The school has also advised that they will be looking at possibilities for dimming the lights when the school is operational outside of the core school hours.
