MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Chief Executive arrange for a clean up of the boundary of the Traveller Accommodation on Stocking Avenue and arrange a plan to tackle the problem at source and arranges, following numerous requests, to have the graffiti removed from the boundary wall - it ought to be an embarrassment to the Council."

REPORT:

A contractor has been engaged to carry out a clean up aound the boundary of the Traveller Accomodation at Stocking Hill and work will commence shortly. All instances of dumping are referred to the Litter Warden service and where evidence is found appropriate action under the legislation is taken.

The probation service were engaged to remove the graffitti from the boundary wall by means of chemicals, however as the paint used is of a gloss variety , the chemical process would not be effective. Discussions are being held with a number of companies to ascertain if it can be removed by power washing without causing damage to the wall.
