"To ask the Chief Executive if there are any library events specifically aimed towards over 18s with Autism within the RTT area?"
REPLY:
In conjunction with the WEB project, South Dublin County Libraries facilitate specific events for adults with intellectual disabilities in Whitechurch Library. The following activities are provided on a regular basis:
Monday: Holistic treatments for severe and profound clients for whom larger group activities are unsuitable usually 11-12 or 11.30-12.30. Clients are usually from Cheeverstown or St Michael’s House. Counselling available between 7pm -9 pm;
Tuesday: Drama and role play activities for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (10.30am-12.30pm) attended by HSE good counsel, Peamount and Elm Houseand treatments for severe and profound clients for more high dependency clients (11am-12pm);
Wednesday, 10.30am -12.30pm: Beauty therapy
Thursday, 10.30am – 12.30pm: Literacy numeracy and IT skills for adults with intellectual disabilities, briquette making. Attended by St Michael’s House, Cheeverstown, HSE Good Counsel, Peamount and the Anne Sullivan centre. 10.30-12.30. Holistic treatments in the small room for more high dependency clients.
Book Club first Friday of every month at 11.30-1pm
Ballyroan Library currently provides a monthly workshop for children with autism and their parents. The event takes place the third Saturday of each month.
