MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Chief Executive examine plans to ease traffic congestion in the Scholarstown area at peak traffic times."

REPORT:

A signal co-ordination system will be installed between the traffic signals at Ballycullen Road and the Scholarstown interchange including the intermediate pedestrian signals. It is intended that this signal co-ordination will increase throughput and reduce congestion especially in the peak hours.

There is also a scheme being advanced to enhance cycle and pedestrian facilities including junction improvements at the Scholarstown, Templeroan and Ballyboden roundabouts and road safety improvement works on Knocklyon Road and Scholarstown Road.
