MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor B. Ferron

That this Committee requests that the surface drains (it has been clarified these are the responsibility of SDCC and not Irish Water) can be inspected by the Drains Department on the road outside 136 The Crescent Millbrook Lawns. The main surface drain is backing up and is causing flooding and myself and the residents have been in contact with the Council several times regarding the issue. The Council have been out previously to jet the drains but the issues still remain. I have been contacted by several residents who are fearful that their houses will flood come winter as a result.

REPORT:

We can find no record of a surface water sewer blockage  or a report of surface water flooding at this location.

3 months ago a foul sewer blockage occurred close to this dwelling. As part of the Service Level Agreement, SDCC cleared the blockage on behalf of Irish Water and no flooding occurred at the time at this location.

We have had no reports of problems since then and we therefore require further time to investigate the matter referred to in the motion.
