MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor C. King
Cathaoirleach's Business
That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to assess in detail the issue of anti social behaviour at Cushlawn Parade/Park and its significant negative impact on residents on the Road and to further investigate what Estate Management related measures could be introduced to reduce the attractiveness of the Road to anti social elements such as removing the "Anchor" on the Road and replacing it with an alternative measure that serves the same purpose as the anchor was originally intended for.
REPORT:
There have been instances of Anti-Social behaviour in this area mainly related to gangs of youths hanging around the area. The Council have been liasing with the Gardai on this matter and a camera can be installed in the area to ascertain the identity of these youths if a suitable location can be found.
The "Anchor" referred to in the motion is a large concrete plinth which would be of significant cost to remove and to remediate the underlying surface with no assurance that it would improve/ reduce anti-social behaviour. The "anchor" currently cannot be driven around in a full circle and to open it up completely may cause additional problems such as joyriding etc.
