MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

That this Committee welcomes the recent Health Assets and Needs Assessment (HANA) Tallaght 2014 report and calls on the CEO to confirm proposals to take action in respect of the recommendations.

REPORT:

Work has been proceeding for some time on the preparation of the HANA report with the assistance and co-operation of a number of partners including the Council. The Report was recently launched as part of the Council's Health and Wellbeing Week 2015.

The Report provides a wealth of comparative data on the health needs of the region and the outcomes reflect the objectives which are the drivers of the annual and ongoing health and wellbeing week activities. The extensive programme of events which has been developed in partnership with a host of organisations and agencies throughout the County for the Health and Wellbeing initiative also reflect the major challenges identified in the Report and are similar generally to the challenges that face all who live work or visit our County. As has been noted on many occasions healthy minds and bodies are essential to having physical, mental and social wellbeing. The Report will be studied on an ongoing basis in order to further improve the outcomes for the community.
