QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor M. Genockey

"To ask the Chief Executive how the Council plans to deal with the proliferation of illegal, threatening signage at the entrances to many estates in Tallaght, and on the main roads in the area."

REPLY:

The Council’s Litter Warden Service enforces the provisions of Section 19 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, with regard to all illegal signage and litter fines are issued, where possible.

The signage which is referred to in this case carries no information as to who is responsible for the erection of these signs. As a result, no enforcement action can be taken.

Illegal signage regarding water charges, property tax and other similar issues have been observed at the following locations:

All signs at the above locations have been listed for removal by the Council’s Public Realm Section and Roads Department.

The Litter Warden will continue to monitor all areas and illegal signage of this nature will be listed for removal.
