QUESTION NO.2

QUESTION: Councillor L. Dunne

"To ask the Chief Executive if the bushes on the road outside of the Garda Station, just directly before the Zebra Crossing, be cut down to height that will allow for drivers to see pedestrians coming towards the crossing".

REPLY:

The Council's Public Realm Section generally undertakes its annual programme of hedgecutting between the start of September and the end of February and the routine maintenance of the median hedge at this location is undertaken as part of this programme. The maintained height of the hedge and its proximity to the pedestrian crossing is a deliberate consideration of the road design scheme at this location in the interest of safety in order to ensure that drivers approaching the pedestrian crossing have to slow down.
