The expanded Tourism implementation group met 28th May to consider a programme for implementation of the tourism Strategy. Key immediate action areas were agreed as below
- Festival development
- Signage and Access
- County Marketing
Research is underway to present papers to the Group for feedback and development during July/August.
Festival development:
- Inventory of current events/festivals in County/nearby
- Identify calendar gaps and under-used/available facilities
- Research on theme/festival gaps, potential festival/event ideas for discussion
- Capitalise on outdoors positioning and selling points of river and mountains,parks
Signage and Access:
- Review feedback and new actions from Tallaght Signage
- Agree criteria for rollout further
- Action plan for development of Heritage Walks in area
- Scoping of Airport or County Shuttle – possibly through Chamber
County Marketing:
- Draft a paper for discussion and development of a tender brief – marketing strategy and action plan to promote County as a visitor and investment/business destination
- Scope options for the extent of commissioning - eg. Contract a service for 18mth to develop and implement, develop only, will service include design of website(s), collaterals etc

Product Development:
Tourism Strategy Flagship: Dublin Mountains
- Dublin Mountains Flagship Steering Group established and MOA signed with Coillte
- Tender for feasibility study and masterplan for flagship on etenders – closing date July 24th.
Clondalkin Round Tower Centre:
- Enabling Works ongoing onsite
- Research ongoing on interpretative content for centre
- Work on catering tender ongoing – subject to technical issues re enabling
Trails:
- Heritage Group preparing Work Plan for Tallaght Walks enhancements following site visits in June
- Research ongoing for a County Rebellion Trail
- Negotiation on progression of Slade Heritage Trail ongoing
- Letters issued to other LAs inviting re-formation of Liffey Valley Advisory Cttee for product development
- Summer of Heritage Events
Marketing:
Grow Dublin:
- Plenary sessions of Grow Dublin Working Groups – Funding, Branding, Transport/Access, Visitor Experience on July 6th – actions being developed
- SDCC Tourism staff have been attending social media workshops for Tourism in May/June.
- Collation of all printed tourism related brochures and collateral ongoing, trial locations for stands identified and stands being sourced
- Shoots to enhance tourism related image bank ongoing through summer
- Development of Travel Writers session for Red Line
