QUESTION: Councillor B. Leech

"To ask the Chief Executive for an official date with regards to the long awaited opening of the Astro pitches in the Jobstown Park. Residents are becoming very anxious at this stage."

REPLY:

As previously advised regrettably this project has been delayed by contractual issues that relate in particular to the lighting and other electrical systems.

Following further dealys in completion of the project the main contractor has now engaged an alternative electrictal sub-contractor who has had to undertake a significant reconstruction of the electrical system. However, the work is now progressing well.

It is anticipated that the facility will be completed shortly, which will allow for opening by the end of July 2015.
