MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
"That the Chief Executive clarifies the situation regarding access to the proposed development at rear of Pearse Brothers Park - planning ref: SD14A/0280.
Residents have received conflicting information regarding the safety of the existing Taylor's Lane/Whitechurch Road junction and the right traffic turning movements into Pearse Bros Park.
Given that there are bus lanes and cycle lanes in place, traffic from Ballyboden has to enter the bus lane to avoid right turning traffic.
They would welcome clarification on this issue."
REPORT:
The decision of the Planning Authority to grant permission for this application (SD14A/0280) has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala. Their decision is due in September 2015.
The proposed entrance to the site would be from the slip road off the southern side of Taylors Lane and therefore not directly from Taylors Lane. The Roads Department had no objection to the proposed development subject to conditions set out in condition 2 relating to :
- Construction details to be to taking in charge standards
- Details of the upgrade of the access road and confirmation that it is in accordance with Councils specifications
- Turning areas for refuse vehicles
