QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
To ask the Chief Executive to present a report on initiatives being taken to encourage volunteerism throughout the county?
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council has a dedicated Community Development Team which supports and encourages volunteers and voluntary and community organisations.
In addition the Council provides financial support and is also represented on the board of the South Dublin County Volunteer Centre which offers a recruitment and placement service for volunteers in South Dublin County as well as providing support and training to not for profits on all aspects of volunteer managment.
The Council together with the Volunteer Centre also established and continues to support the South Dublin Volunteer Corp which is a volunteer led movement of citizens of the county who make themselves available to volunteer at various events and/or emergencies in the county.
