QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

To ask the Chief Executive how many litter fines have been issued to Estate Agents throughout the County within the past five years, together with a break-down of which estate agents have received the most fines?

REPLY:

All alleged breaches of Section 19 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, (the Act) pertaining to the prohibition of advertisements/illegal signage are investigated by the Litter Warden Service and appropriate enforcement action taken where necessary.

It is not possible to provide a figure for the number of fines issued to different types of businesses for contravention of Section 19 of the Act. Therefore, the figures provided below are the total number of fines issued, pursuant to Section 19 of The Act, in the last five (5) years which includes Estate Agents.

2010	265 fines issued
2011	441 fines issued
2012	680 fines issued
2013	259 fines issued
2014	239 fines issued

 To date in 2015, 91 fines have been issued for contravention of Section 19 of the Act.
