MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

That this Tallaght Area Committee welcomes the Tallaght Village Initiative Scheme and calls on the Chief Executive to confirm the schedule being followed and also stating what action he is now taking to minimise the negative impact of the works on the community and local business.

REPORT: 

The Part 8 Consultation for improvement works to Tallaght Village were approved by the Elected Members at the May Council Meeting 2015. A proposed programme time table for the roll-out of the improvement works across the 9 designated villages will be presented to the June Council Meeting 2015. This programme is designed to phase, design and tender works to optimise Council technical resources. The construction works are also phased to avoid disruption in a number of villages at the same time, restricting impact on business and community as requested. 

Tender for the Tallaght works is scheduled for Quarter 1, 2016, with works to be completed by early summer. The works divide into two locations – Old Greenhills Road and adjoining the end of High Street/New Plaza. The works will be phased to minimise disruption and there will be prior consultation with business directly affected. It is impossible to carry out works without some noise, dust or inconvenience and every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience.
