COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE
Wednesday, May 20, 2015
MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That this Committee request the Chief Executive to present a report for discussion at the meeting outlining options and costings for the provision of additional car parking spaces on the inner Boot Road and Rockfield Drive. The Committee is aware that no budget provision has been made for such work in 2015 and is not requesting that such work takes place this year. The purpose of the report is to inform members of possible options in advance of the estimates for 2016."
REPORT:
It is not normal practise for additional parking to be provided by the Council along estate roads. It defeats the purpose of traffic calming and can also increase speeds along such road. However it is estimated that parking spaces would cost a minimum of €3000 per space to construct depending on drainage and kerbing requirements. Such parking would need the approval of all residents on the affected road.
