QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive if he would confirm if any further Housing proposals are being planned in the Tallaght area arriving from the recent announcement by the Minister for Environment in respect of funding for Housing."

REPLY:

The Minister for the Environment, Community & Local Government, Alan Kelly, and Minister for State for Housing, Planning & Construction, Paudie Coffey, recently announced the first major direct build social housing programme with the commencement of over 100 separate housing projects nationally.

This is planned to be the first phase of direct-build under the Government’s social housing strategy and €312 million has been approved nationally by the Ministers which will see an additional 1,700 social housing units come on stream by 2017 with an estimated 3,000 additional jobs in construction created. South Dublin County Council received the largest allocation in the state of €40.8 million. The Council has now received approval from the Department  for the following social housing build schemes in the Tallaght area.

Project   Name/Address Units
