MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

That this Tallaght Area Committee regrets the recent closure of the Abberley Court Hotel involving the loss of 72 local jobs and calls on the Chief Executive to co-ordinate a response to the needs of the workers and also to discuss with other local interests the possibility of the hotel re-opening.

REPORT: 

The Council has been in contact with South Dublin Chamber in relation to the closure of the Abberley Hotel. Mr Peter Byrne, CEO of the Chamber has confirmed that the Tourism Working Group have provided contact details for the local hotels and potential vacancies to the local Dept of Social Welfare Intreo Office. The local hotel managers have requested that these details be made available to former employees as they present to the office. 

The Council will stay in close contact with South Dublin Chamber on this matter.
