COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO.6
QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
"To ask the Chief Executive for an update report on Corkagh Fisheries also to ask how can someone apply to tender for the contract. To present a report to the Area Committee on options for the Fisheries bearing in mind the possible advantages and possibilities to the community and for inclusion?"
REPLY:
The management contract for the operation of the fishery in Corkagh Park is currently with BK Management Ltd as it forms part of the management contract for the Camac Valley Tourist Caravan and Camping Park. A tender for the operation of the Fishery, as a separate unit, was put to the market in November 2013 and while 8 companies reviewed the documents on eTenders, none of them submitted a formal tender. As a result, the fishery continues to be operated under the contract for the Camac Valley Tourist Caravan and Camping Park.
The Council is in the process of reviewing the operation of the Fishery and is seeking independent, expert advise to inform this review and to assist in identifying the most appropriate way of managing the facility. It is expected to have the review completed by early summer at which time a report will be brought to the Members for consideration.
