QUESTION NO. 6

QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

"To ask the Chief Executive for a list of the official public parks in the RTT Area, for example, is Knocklyon Park an official park?  Is Delaford Park an official park?  Please provide a full list?"

REPLY:

The use of the term "park" to denote a specific area of parkland or open space is somewhat arbitrary as there is no “official” definition of a park. In practice, the term "park" is typically applied to larger open space areas greater than 2.5 hectares or about 10 acres in size such as Tymon Park, Dodder Valley Park and Rathfarnham Castle Park.

However, it is also used in limited circumstances for open space areas smaller than 2.5 hectares, for example Knocklyon Park and Orwell Park in Templeogue.
