MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

"That this Committee, recognising that there are almost 100 trees in the Dublin 12 area requiring action in the current Arboricultural Programme, as well as other trees in that area requiring similar attention, calls on Management to ensure these trees are prioritised for action as soon as possible."

REPORT:

A progress report on the 2015 Tree Maintenance Programme was presented to the April meeting of the Rathfarnham/Templeogue-Terenure Area Committee.  The report summarised the percentage of the 2015 Tree Maintenance Programme completed in the Rathfarnham/Templeogue-Terenure Area as on 31st March 2015 as follows:

The delivery of the programme for 2015 remains ongoing and will continue until the year end.  Outstanding works on trees in the Dublin 12 area will be addressed as part of this ongoing programme.  The Council is closely monitoring progress with the delivery of the programme and the application of resources is under regular review.  Procedures where assistance from ESB is required to facilitate tree maintenance works on trees in close proximity to power lines are also being reviewed in consultation with the ESB to enhance efficiency of our tree maintenance operations.  This is of particular relevance to the Dublin 12 area where a number of the trees that are listed on the 2015 tree maintenance programme are in contact with or close to power lines.  A list of the trees in this area where ESB assistance is required has been submitted to the ESB and we are currently in active discussion with representatives of the ESB to agree a joint plan of action to enable progress with the required tree pruning and removal works as soon as possible.
