MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, May 11, 2015

QUESTION NO.17

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

To ask the Chief Executive if he will task the Councils communication department to consider what could be done to protect the title of South Dublin noting that this term is regularly used in the media to describe many other areas outside our County,  and particularly in Dunlaoire and will he agree that it is time, 21 years after the creation of the South Dublin administrative area, that the public at large be clear about South Dublin?

REPLY:

The Council's new External Communications Strategy 2015-2019 will actively promote, market and brand both South Dublin County Council and the county itself. The new Toursim Strategy provides for the establishment of a dedicated county promotion and tourism section within the council to co-ordinate a range of activities that will build upon our local identity and the unique selling points of South Dublin County.
