QUESTION NO.18
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
To ask the Chief Executive how many groups have applied for the Tidy Towns funding and how much has been awarded to each group. Can you give a breakdown of how the funding was allocated by electoral area please?
REPLY:
A Tidy Towns Network Meeting was convened on the 23rd of March last and all Tidy Towns Groups in the County sent representatives to the meeting. It was agreed at the meeting that initially there would be two opportunities for funding for each Tidy Towns Group; the first an Initial Seed Grant of €1,500 for each group followed by an Annual Programme Grant of a larger amount to help groups with the cost of their planned programme of improvements aimed at improving their outcome in the Tidy Towns National Awards.
Application Forms for the Initial Seed Grant were circulated both prior to the meeting and on the night of the meeting to all 11 Tidy Towns Groups. To date 5 groups have submitted complete applications with all required documentaion and payment of their €1,500 grant is being made. The other Groups are being assisted where necessary to enable their payments to be made. Details in relation to the Annual Programme Grant aspect of the finances is now being circulated to the Groups.
The Tidy Towns Funding is allocated and divided between all registered Groups within the Tidy Towns Programme and all electoral areas in the County are represented. If further areas wish to establish a Group then assistance and help can be provided either through the Community Services Team or through the Tidy Towns Network.
