Initiation of review of Casual Trading Byelaws

REPORT:

The Council's Casual Trading ByeLaws for the control, regulation, supervision and administration of casual trading in the administrative area of South Dublin County Council were made in accordance with the Casual Trading Act 1995.

Under the Casual Trading Act, the Council has the power to designate areas for casual trading and casual trading is prohibited in an area other than a designated casual trading area. Only traders who possess a licence to trade from the Council are permitted to trade in such areas. The making of Casual Trading Bye Laws is a reserved function of the Council.

Designated Casual Trading Sites in South Dublin County Council's area are as follows:

It is considered opportune at this time to initiate a review of the Casual Trading ByeLaws in conjunction with a review of Parks ByeLaws and the Village Enhamcement Schemes and Tourism Strategy.
