MOTION: Councillor M. Devine

That this Committee seek a definite date for the agreed painting of railings at Parkhill/Belgard Rd.

REPORT:

As reported to the Tallaght ACM in March a commitment was given in July/August of 2014 to paint the boundary railings at Parkhill estate and it was identified as a task that could possibly be undertaken by the Council's Gateway staff, as the public realm section does not have any painters to carry out this the work. Agreement is in place between staff unions and Council management that the work programme for Gateway staff is to be agreed in advance by a committee made up of senior staff from the Council's operational departments as well as staff representatives. The proposal to have this painting carried out by Gateway staff was recently proposed to the Gateway committee however it has been rejected on grounds that painting is work normally carried out by Council trades staff. The request to have the Parkhill railings painted has now been referred to the Council's Housing Dept to determine if they can assist in the matter and take on the commitment to paint the railings. In these circumstances it is not possible at this time to give a definite date for painting to take place.
