QUESTION NO. 24
QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask the Chief Executive to look at and issue a report on a tourism map for all areas of SDCC that is accessible and easy to understand that could highlight the best of what SDCC has to offer. Such a map could also detail well known people from each area?
REPLY:
Currently there is a range of walking maps for all our historical villages which have been prepared by the libraries local studies section. The rollout of the pilot wayfinding strategy for Tallaght is at an advanced stage with the signage structures in the process of fabrication and erection. This wayfinding strategy includes an important heritage element and the system will be used as a basis for rollout to the other historical villages following the assessment of the pilot
More generally one of the objectives of the recently adopted Tourism strategy is the improvement of mapping and heritage/ tourism signage throughout the County. Work on implementing the strategy has commenced building on the studies and maps outlined above. A cross departmental team has been established to advance the project.
