MOTION NO.17
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Brien
"That this Committee requests that SDDC install some information signs in Waterstown park in Palmerstown, outlining why some of the areas of grass are not cut and what wild life can be seen in the park. This would be useful for adults and children that are visiting the park."
REPORT:
There is a 3 panel double sided sign in Waterstown Park located adjacent to the car park. The sign depicts a map of the park including features, information and history on the park and a section on flora and fauna. There are 2 lockable panels which are available for park notices and other relevant information. The panel on fauna includes images and information on animals that can be found in the park which include Otter, Sparrow Hawk, Grey Heron, Lamprey, Damselfly, Skylark, Bats, Kingfisher and Badger. Information on flora provides details on Wetland Habitats, Grasslands and Hedgerows.
The request for additional information on the biodiversity of Waterstown Park and the management practices that are designed to protect and enhance the existing environment will be considered, having regard to the existing information already on display and the means by which it is communicated to park visitors and the general public. It is not proposed to install any additional signage at this time.
