QUESTION NO. 22
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
"To ask the Chief Executive if he would confirm what action is being taken to improve the image of Sean Walsh Park at Watergate, Tallaght noting the problem of litter, dumped trollies and other issues of concern to those who use the park and will he also note the need to provide a Bouy close to the lake?"
REPLY:
A total of five littering complaints have been received by the Councils Enforcement and Licensing Section since January 2014. Two fines have been issued under the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, also since January 2014.
The Council's Public Realm section has an operational depot located in Sean Walsh Park and staff from that depot clean and litter pick the park on a daily basis, as well as servicing the 21 litter bins in the park on a daily basis. Park maintenance staff are currently experiencing a problem with illegal dumping of domestic and green waste at the Watergate side of the park and this matter is currently being considered to determine what additional measures could be taken to resolve this matter.
