COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE
Monday, April 27, 2015
MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
That this committee calls on the Chief Executive to take immediate action to remove offending Graffiti in Tallaght Village and at other locations in Tallaght and will the Chief Executive also agree to review the Council's policy of issuing letters of threat of legal action against the owners of property vadalised by Graffiti.
REPORT:
Section 20 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, empowers a Local Authority to serve a Notice on the occupier of a premises requiring them to remove or otherwise remedy the defacement (graffitti) on their premises. However, in general the Council adopts a reasonable approach in such instances, whereby a letter is issued requesting the removal of the defacement (graffitti) as soon as possible.
