QUESTION NO.2

QUESTION: Councillor L. Dunne

"To ask the Chief Executive for clarification on the following - Two islands have been installed on Brookview Court & on the entrance to Brookview Drive, for the purpose of Traffic calming.  I would like to note that the issue of speeding cars was not at these two entrances.  There has been and continues to be an issue of cars speeding coming from Brookview Gardens up to the newer built houses in the cul de sac on Brookview Drive.  This issue has been raised both with the Gardai and the council.  I have had a number of complaints with regards to these two islands, particularly the one on Brookview Drive.  They are hard to see at night, with many cars crashing into them.  Additionally, as the road is not wide enough, cars are driving onto the pathway were many kids play.  For those reasons, I ask the Chief Executive, what will be done to rectify this issue."

REPLY:

The islands were located following discussion with local residents. The matter will be examined and discussed with the Garda authorities.
