QUESTION NO 5.
QUESTION: Councillor L. Dunne
To ask the Chief Executive, how much has been allocated through capital funding for new builds and redevelopments for Traveller accommadation by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government department? Additionally, when will the uncompleted elements of the previously agreed locations of the 2008-2013 programme commence?
REPLY:
The Capital funding for new builds and redevelopments is awarded on an annual basis. The Council has submitted its proposed commitments for 2015 to the Department of Environment , Community and Local Government and are awaiting a response.
All elements of the 2008 -2013 programme that were uncompleted were incorporated into the 2014-2018 programme. It is anticipated that work on the Belgard Road site will commence shortly and funding has been sought for the redevelopment of the St.Aidans site in the submission to the Department for 2015 Capital Funding to allow works to commence.
Hereunder are the specifics in the Traveller Accommodation Programme along with the current position in relation to each. It should be noted that this Council also had a number of vacant units in current accommodation for a long periods which we could not let.
