REPLY:
South Dublin County Council is committed to delivering better outcomes for our homeless population within the County. To this end, the council is currently examining the feasibility as well as funding options for the establishment of an additional Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA) Facility similar to that currently in operation in the Tallaght area. A report on this matter will be brought to the Housing, Social and Community Development SPC.
As at 27th March 2015, there were 262 applicants registered homeless with this local authority. All 262 individuals / families are currently placed into Temporary Emergency Accommodation (TEA), Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA) or Private Emergency Accommodation (PEA) and includes 12 individuals who are accessing a week by week bed placement through the Cold Weather Initiative (CWI). In addition, SDCC has 5 one-night-only bed placements available per day for persons presenting homeless or at risk of homelessness to our drop-in clinics.
