MOTION NO. 18

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee:

- Expresses its support for the work of the Lucan Autism Network;

- Supports their call for increased provision of special classes for children with Austin Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both primary and second-level schools in Lucan; and

- Calls on the National Council for Special Education & Minister for Education & Skills to ensure adequate provision of special ASD classes in Lucan, including in EVERY second-level school; and

- Extends an invitation to the local Special Education Needs Organiser (SENO) to meet with members of the Committee regarding this matter."

REPORT:

If the Motion is approved a letter will issue to the National Council for Special Education & Minister for Education & Skills and an invitation extended to the Special Education Needs Organiser to meet with the members of this Committee.
