Tourism strategy (Report from Tourism Working Group meeting on 20th March.)

REPLY:

The Draft Tourism Strategy was considered by the Tourism Working Group at its meeting of Friday 20th March.
While the Group approved of the Draft, following feedback, there are some adjustments which are in the process of being made;

• Expansion of actions in relation to Business Tourism
• Additional actions in relation to supports to industry/role of Local Enterprise Office
• Inclusion of further sports in the potential opportunities for Tallaght Stadium and wider county
• Inclusion of further maps, currently under development
• Addition of action to develop a regional festival

Following circulation of the Draft Strategy to SPC members on Friday 20th it has been requested that feedback be forwarded by Wednesday 25th.
The discussion at our meeting should finalise the draft Strategy to be recommended to Council by the SPC (subject to incorporation of any changes following input from SPC members). It will be listed on the agenda for the Council meeting of April 13th and it is intended to have a launch event that evening.

Immediate priorities to follow the launch of the Strategy (work on which is ongoing) are;

• Finalising organisational structures and resources within the Council
• Creating Working Groups/Implementation Teams with other agencies, private sector and local authorities
• Finalisation of a more detailed implementation plan in consultation with the above Groups.
