MOTION NO.2
MOTION: Councillor M. Genockey
That this committee calls on the Chief Executive to informally consult the local communities, including councillors, surrounding the planned social in-fill housing at Dromcarra Avenue, Killinarden and St Aidan’s, Brookfield ahead of the Part 8 plans being initiated. This is with a view to ensuring that the badly needed housing can be provided as quickly as possible and also that the local community can have their say on what is going into their local area and are fully included in the process.
REPORT:
The Public Consultation Procedure under Part 8 of the Local Government Planning and Development Act 2000 to 2012 requires that public notice of the proposed development is provided by way of advertisement in local newspaper and erection of site notices. Plans of the proposed development are on public display in Council offices and on SDCC webside for a period of 6 weeks. Members of the public have a period of 8 weeks from the date the adverisement is published in the newspaper to make a written submission on the proposed development.
The Council has a dedicated team in place to deal with queries raised by the general public, who can be contacted by e-mail and phone. On request and supported by the Council's Estate Officer, SDCC staff will be available to meet with a representative group of local residents to discuss and address any issues raised on foot of writtens submissions received as part of the consultation process.
All written submissions together with the Council's response, will be included in the report presented to the Elected Representatives for purpose of considering the report on the Part 8 application.
