MOTION NO.1
MOTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
That the Chief Executive present a full report on all matters relating to the Apartments Block on Cookstown Road (beind Super Valu) detailing the make-up of units and confirming what plans are in place for the allocations of the Apartments and also confirming that everything possible will be done to facilitate applicants from the local area who wish to be accommodated at this Apartment Block.
REPORT:
An Approved Housing Body has recently entered into a formal legal contract with the developer of this site to acquire as a fully completed development of 45 residential apartments. On site works for development completion have commenced and the first block of 23 units is scheduled for handover in Q3 2015 and the remaining block of 22 units by year end.
Upon completion of acquisition of the development by the Approved Housing Body, the 45 residential apartments will be made available for social use in respect of nominations from the Council housing waiting list under a lease Payment & Availability agreement between the Council and Oaklee Housing Trust for which funding approval from the Department of Environment, Community & Local Government is in place.
The letting of all dwellings available irrespective of tenure (Council Owned/Leased/Approved Housing Body)will be in accordance with Council's Allocation Scheme which operates on the basis of time on list. All housing applicants who have expressed a preference for accommodation in the Housing Area South of the Naas Road will be eligible for consideration for this development irrespective of their original address.
