QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

To ask the Chief Executive that given the excellent Round Tower development plan , what can be done regarding a campaign to get people in and from the area to donate memorabilia/items to a museum/display within the development. Focussing particularly on items of local Historical and cultural value. Especially items relating to the Former Clondalkin Paper Mills?

REPLY:

The Round Tower Visitor Centre is under design development with a target tender date of September 2015.  Expressions of Interest advertisements have already been placed to seek partners for the restaurant franchise.  South Dublin Libraries have allocated a staff member to work full-time on researching material and content suitable for exhibition in a variety of formats.  The design and its content are being developed in conjunction with local community groups.  It is intended to discuss with these groups the best way to secure historical objects and memorabilia in the coming months.
