QUESTION NO. 15

QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Chief Executive what specific actions are planned to be taken for the Greenhills Rd/Limekiln Rd/Ballymount/Robinhood Realignment scheme for the remainder of 2015, what outstanding phases will be left at that stage, how it is planned to source funding for the delivery of the scheme in full, and to make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

Due to the economic downturn in recent years, the former NRA Strategic and Specific Schemes of Roads Grants, and associated annual application process for Local Authorities, have been withdrawn. As a consequence of this situation South Dublin County Council has been unable to secure funding for inter alia the Greenhills Reconfiguration Scheme. As no funding has been secured for 2015 for this Scheme, no progress can be made in respect of either the Detailed Design / Site Investigations for the Scheme as a whole or for any of its individual elements.

Arising from its commitments under the CPO, SDCC is progressing with land acquisition for this Scheme, and a further settlement was concluded in 2014 in respect of a pivotal site at Robinhood.

However, until a suitable Scheme of Grants is restored, it is difficult to predict when the Detailed Design / Site Investigations stage can commence.
