QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
To ask the Chief Executive to provide an update on the implementation of the County's Age-Friendly Strategy, to report on proposed works and initiatives planned for 2015 in the area of inclusion for older persons, and to make a statement on the matter?
REPLY:
The Age Friendly Alliance continues to meet and have developed a programme of work for 2015. The membership has also been extended to include additional agencies.
The programme of work for 2015 will include the development a new Text Alert service, a continuation of the DECLG Community Smoke Alarm scheme when available, age friendly ambassador service etc.
The alliance will continue to work to promote activities for older people during the year but particularly during the Bealtaine Festival which is a national festival celebrating creativity as we age. The Age Friendly Alliance will also be involved in the development of activities during the Health and Wellbeing and the Social Inclusion Weeks.
