QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

To ask the Chief Executive what is his intention in terms of rolling out the proposed new 30kph speed limit in housing estates, and to make a statement on the matter?

REPLY:

The proposed 30 kph speed limit in residential areas has not yet been agreed at national level and its implementation is premature until the Council has completed its deliberations at the LandUse, Planning and Transportation SPC.

A report wwas recently made to that committee in relation to the public consultation process requested by the Minister and it was agreed that further deliberations were required to assess the current speed in these 50 KPH areas.
