QUESTION NO.5
QUESTION: Councillor P. Foley
The flashing signs - indicating the speed of the oncoming traffic - throughout the county are, in my opinion, having a positive effect on reducing speed. To ask the Chief Executive what is the cost of each unit and what opportunities are there to roll more of these out this year?
REPLY:
The cost of installation approximately €3000 each. The Council have installed 16 to date accross the county and their effectiveness has yet to be established . They were installed initially at the request of the gardai in known areas of speeding and we can examine particular locations for additional signs.
