QUESTION NO.13
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
To ask the Chief Executive to confirm the latest position regarding the position of Pyrite in houses within the county and to make a statement on the matter?
REPLY:
On the 5th of February 2015 the following press release by the DECLG was made:
Mr. Paudie Coffey, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, announced today (05 February 2015) that he has approved the extension of the pyrite remediation scheme to include dwellings located in the administrative areas of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin County Councils which may be affected by significant pyritic damage.
I understand that the only location to date where Pyrite has ben discovered in our functional area is in Newcastle and that remedial works have commenced or are about to commence. There is no obligation on the developer or householder to inform SDCC when works commence.
