SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM/TEMPLEOGUE-TERENURE AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 7
MOTION: Councillor A-M. Dermody
"That the Chief Executive present to this meeting the various reports which resulted from flood risk in the area, noting in particular areas now categorised as having a higher flood risk despite not having ever been flooded."
REPORT:
This electoral area is covered by the River Dodder CFRAM Plan which was produced by Dublin City Council and the River Poddle CFRAM Study which was produced by the OPW.
Both of these studies identify the areas at risk of fluvial flooding in the case of unobstructed flows (e.g. screens not blocked). The studies do not include areas which are susceptible to pluvial flooding (heavy rainfall in urbanised catchments) or situations where blockages obstruct the flows in river channels or culverts.
In the case of the Poddle CFRAM Study this is being revised by the OPW following feedback from public consultation. It may be the case that when the final report is produced that areas which were highlighted as prone to flood risk will be removed.
