QUESTION NO. 21
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
To ask the Chief Executive what plans there are for Shared Ownership Scheme or affordable housing schemes within the County within the next 12 months?
REPLY:
The Government’s Social Housing Strategy 2020 envisages the provision of 35,000 new social housing units, over a six year period, to meet the additional social housing supply requirements as determined by the housing Agency, in addition to providing support for up to 75,000 households through an enhanced private rental sector.
There is no specific reference in the Strategy to any affordable housing initiative.
The Housing Policy Statement 2011 announced that all Affordable Housing Schemes, including the Shared Ownership Scheme have been stood down.
